Building Skills for School Success
Brain Camp is the most Insightful, Practical and Effective How-to-Learn Program in the Country for Students in Grades 7 - 12!
Brain Camp is a study and organization skill-building
course that teaches students effective ways to take advantage of their unique learning
strengths and preferences in order to master their schoolwork. This empowering program
expands the self-knowledge and resourcefulness of students so they
can make wiser, more productive choices as learners, and ultimately do better in
school!
Exclusively offered in the Seattle area twice a year (August & Feb/Mar), Brain
Camp’s 15-hour program has a strong, proven track record of success. Now,
the Brain Camp Program is also available for purchase by schools
for in-house implementation (see products).
Just like sports and arts camps help young people hone their skills and improve
their performances, Brain Camps strengthen the study, organization, planning, time
management and motivational skills students need for success in school and beyond.
Many kids underplay their hands in school and don’t demonstrate how smart
they really are. Frequently, the cause of poor performance is the lack of
effective study strategies to produce success. If students know how to learn, what they learn becomes easier and they produce
better work.
Although some people are naturally better at it than others, all students can improve their study skills and develop more successful ways
to learn.
Brain Camps present active, fun, informative exercises where students practice a
variety of specialized techniques for various learning situations, then cherry-pick
the ones that prove to be the most successful for them. Dynamic, experienced
and well-trained teachers guide the learning and maintain interest through meaningful,
well-paced activities.
Engaging, hands-on materials provide a veritable treasure trove of useful, practical
study strategies and useful tools to help students become more academically independent
and confident in their ability to learn.
Wouldn’t it have been great if someone had, early in our schooling, shown
us the skills we would need for learning? Not what to learn – but how to learn! How much time did we waste and how much
confidence and self-esteem did we lose with our hit and miss method of studying?
Unfortunately, these vital “how-to” skills are not typically taught
in most middle and high schools where they are most needed and expected.
Evidence shows that most students will not learn study skills unless they receive explicit instruction in their use -- these essential,
lifelong-skills do not develop naturally as a by-product of maturation and schooling.
